NATIONAL TEAM RESULTS

Our NOLTC teams have had an exciting start in April, with teams representing us in Regionals, Nationals, and the County Cup.

Sunday 2nd April saw the start of our National team’s campaign with a match against Winchester.

It was a tough start against a strong Winchester team – Ben played at 1, managing to turn a one set deficit to win 6-2 in the final set. Joe comfortably won at number 2 in fashion. Jack lost a tough 3 set match that lasted close to 3 hours.

The standout match was Bobby’s match, which lasted over 3 hours to complete 2 sets. Unfortunately, he injured himself in the 3rd set which put him out for the doubles.

Going into the doubles 2-2, Jack and late back up Thomas Bowden lost the game to a strong pair. Joe and Ben lost a marathon doubles game with a 6-7, 7-6, and 10-7 leaving the team with an agonising 4-2 loss.

REGIONAL TEAM RESULTS

The Mens Regional NCL team also came up against a strong Maidenhead team.

Playing on Maidenhead’s artificial clay courts, the singles round was tied 2-2 following straight set wins by Hamish Miller and Richard Evans.

With the tie going down to the doubles, an experienced 1st pair for Maidenhead saw off Aamir and Hamish, leaving Christian and Richard needing to win.

Having lost the first set and going a break down in the second, they came back to level up at one set all, forcing a championship tie breaker.

Unfortunately, the pair fell short losing 10-7 in the breaker thus giving the tie to Maidenhead 4-2.
