On the club’s development plans, we are now in the process of seeking planning permission for our 3 indoor courts, the new clubhouse and covers for our Padel courts. We are also exploring a range of funding and grant options to finance these exciting developments and the Red Plus clay courts on hard 1 & 2 and grass 5 & 6.
We will keep you fully informed and consulted on progress, and when decisions need to be made.
We are also now embarking on our first sponsorship discussions with businesses around Summertown and Kidlington to supplement our long standing partnership with Chris Lewis Fire & Security – who will remain our main club sponsor. If you or your business are interested in sponsoring the club, please contact Richard Evans or Lyn Haslett-Hawkins for more information.
We are, as ever, keen to receive any feedback from you and any ideas of how we can improve the Club, so please do contact us at northoxfordtennis@gmail.com or catch one of the Club committee team or Julian around the Club.
And don’t forget to check out our social calendar (see below).

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR FINALISTS & WINNERS
|
 |
|
Last week we hosted the grade 2 British Tour Mens’ and Ladies’ singles tournament. A fantastically high level of tennis on display throughout qualifying and then in the main draw.
Finalists were (from left to right) Hollie Smart, Mia Wainwright, Rhys Lawlor and Jay Johnson-Hauldren. On Saturday, Hollie prevailled in the ladies’ final and Jay in the men’s.
Congratulations to our finalists and winners! And a big thank you to Andy Fyfe, our referee for the week, who, despite losing a full day’s play on Tuesday, managed to run a seamless schedule!
NOLTC’s Brendan Emmanuel made it through to the last 16, losing to Ferran Redza in 3 sets. He won the first set and lost the second by which time he’d broken strings on all his racquets and had to borrow Allan Cooper’s – probably didn’t help him in the third set!

BANK HOLIDAY AMERICAN TOURNAMENT
Thank you to all who attended the American Tournament on Bank Holiday Monday. We managed to beat the rain, but the strong wind made the tennis interesting!
The men’s winner (with the highest overall score) was Harry Fletcher, with new member Peter Greenland coming second. The ladies’ winner was Carolyn Downs and the runner-up was Lucy Ball.
Many thanks to Catherine Jackson for running the Bank Holiday Tournament. We will be running another one on Bank Holiday Monday 25th August.

Club Championships 2025
|
 |
|
The draws for the Club Championships 2025 are now complete and have been published (please see link below).
North Oxford Tennis Club – Club Championships 2025 – View Draw Here
Each date represents a Play by date. The tournament experience is largely down to how well people communicate and organise their matches. Players must provide 3 dates that the match can be played.
The scoring format to be used in ALL matches will be two normal sets (tie break to 7 points (2 clear) at 6-6). A match tie break (first to 10 points with a 2 clear advantage) will be played at one set all. e.g 6-2 4-6 10-8
THE WINNER PLAYER/TEAM NEEDS TO SEND THROUGH THE RESULTS TO the tournament organiser (Tom: noltccompetitions@gmail.com) WITHIN 24 HOURS OF THE MATCH FINISHING SO THAT WE CAN UPDATE THE DRAW.
Players must be members of North Oxford Tennis Club to participate in the 2025 Championships.
Matches should be played on grass where possible, finals weekend will be played on grass. Where a surface cannot be agreed a coin toss should take place.
The organiser’s decision on tournament related issues is final.
Finals weekend will be Sunday 13th July 2025 (Play from 10:30am).
If you need contact details of your opponent, please get in touch with Tom: noltccompetitions@gmail.com
Good luck to all, enjoy your tennis and have fun!
